How to Turn Ethernet on or off and connect a Clover device via Ethernet

Because wireless can be unreliable or spotty (which is often out of your control), we recommend connecting your Clover Station to the Internet via an Ethernet cable. This method ensures that your Clover device is connected and online even when your wireless connection is not responding.

To connect to a Clover device via Ethernet:

  1. First, ensure that your Clover Station printer is connected to your modem or router/modem via an Ethernet cable.
  2. On a Clover device, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen, revealing a small menu. From the menu that appears, tap on the Settings button.
  3. On the left side of the screen, slide the Ethernet setting to the desired option (“Off” or “On”).
  4. If you turn Ethernet on, turn Wi-Fi off. A Clover station will automatically connect to a known wireless network, so you will want to turn Wi-Fi off to force the Clover Station to connect via Ethernet.
  5. Below the Proxy Settings option, you should see your ethernet connection name and the status of the connection.
    • If your status is Connected then everything should be working fine.
    • If your status is Disconnected, then you may be having trouble connecting. Tap on the Ethernet network to open your IP settings.
      • If your Clover device is receiving a dynamic IP address, select the DHCP option from the dropdown menu.
      • If your Clover device is receiving a static IP address, select the Static option from the dropdown menu and fill in the IP Settings, Gateway, Network subnet mask, DNS 1, and DNS 2 fields. You can find this information by contacting your IT support.
